The future interests me more than the past, because that is where I intend to live!
Albert Einstein!
With determination, ambition, and a smile on my face, I head to every training session. On foot to Nockstein, by bike to Gaisberg, and down the trail again. Here begins my story...
In January 2010 (at the age of two), I learned to ski on the small Koppler slope at Riedelwirt. It took until February 2014 for my first competitions to start. My debut with a third place was quite good, and so it could continue. But before the ski competitions began, I started my competitions on foot. My debut took place in 2011 at a 'Sumsilauf' in Hof near Salzburg. More running competitions were to follow. However, the focus here was more on fitness and less on the hobby itself.
I discovered my passion in April 2011. I learned to ride a bike and clearly enjoyed it. Even when my family moved to New Zealand for six months in 2013, I continued cycling diligently. After some training, I was equipped with enough strength and stamina by February 2016. For the first time, I rode from home (712 m) to Gaisberg (1288 m) on my bike. With a lot of motivation, I then competed in my first MTB race in the U11 age group in June of the same year. I came second! After further victories with a clear lead over the competition, I joined the racing series of the Austria Youngsters Cup in 2017. The first race in Villach was promising with another second place. Shortly after, the Austrian Championship (ÖM) took place at my home club in Koppl. I also came second in this race.
In the first year of U13, everything really started to take off. I tried to participate in every race in the Austria Youngsters Cup series. There were highs and lows, bad and good days, courses that suited me and those that didn't at all. The first year of U13 was tough as one of the youngest participants. In 2018, I came fourth at the Austrian Championship (ÖM) in Dornbirn, so there was still room for improvement. The second year of U13 began in mid-January in Vienna with a cyclocross race. This was also the Austrian Championship (ÖM), but only for U17. Despite the challenge of racing against older competitors, I ended up sixth out of ten participants. Well-prepared, the cross-country season in the Youngsters Cup started in Langenlois. The season kicked off brilliantly with a first place. After the race, there were seven more Youngsters Cup races leading up to the ÖM in Windhaag. The previous year, with second place in Windhaag, was already a great success. But in 2019, I wanted to improve. I set myself the goal of improving in every race in my second year of U13, so the determination to win this race was strong. The course suited me very well. The preparations also went smoothly. The day of the race was perfect; one day after my birthday. So it was time to give myself a special gift.
When the starting whistle blew, I took off and immediately positioned myself behind my biggest competitor. After the first lap, the two of us had already pulled away from the others. In the third lap, I overtook her on a longer climb. Spurred on by the Tour de France devil Dieter 'Didi' Senft, I managed to create a safe distance. After 19:53 minutes, I crossed the finish line 48 seconds ahead of her. It took me a few days to fully realize what had happened. I became the Austrian Champion 2019! After the championship, there were nine more races. In the overall standings of the Austria Youngsters Cup, I finished in fourth place.
The year 2020 was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the situation, I was able to compete in 15 MTB races. A downside was that the Austrian Cycling Federation (ÖRV) changed the regulations, and I could no longer participate in the Austrian Championship (ÖM) due to my German citizenship. Fortunately, there was a German Championship in Gedern. On October 17, 2020, I finished seventh out of 32 girls. At the end of the season, I finished fourth again in the overall Youngsters Cup standings. The year 2021 was still influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, it started perfectly for me. First, I was accepted into the newly established GHOST Junior Team, then into the Bavarian squad with many training days and camps with very professional support from all the coaches. Additionally, I was accepted into the Sports Real Gymnasium (SUM RG) and the School Sports Model (SSM). This will certainly help me with my big goals towards becoming a professional mountain biker. Let's hope that all the preparations were not in vain and that the upcoming races will be successful. Check out 'Current Events' to see what's happening.
A season with ups and downs comes to an end in 2022. A highlight was certainly participating in the European Championship in Capriasca (Switzerland) with two starters from the Danish national team. Additionally, I came second in the Federal Youth Sight Race in Bad Tabarz. For 2023, I continue to look forward. The goal is to achieve the NK2 standard for the national squad.
An exciting time lies ahead, not in Europe, but in the Southern Hemisphere. From January to December 2024, I stayed in New Zealand. I explored the area around Taranga with friends from DirtCraft. Many races followed, but none with UCI points. This made the start of the second year of juniors challenging. However, the first three C1 races and the final fourth race as Hors Class (HC) on Salamina Island were very rewarding. In just 10 days, I was able to advance to 114th place in the UCI rankings. Let's see what the rest of the 2025 season holds.
